Lexplorer is a Swiss legal research platform. It combines full-text and semantic search across federal and cantonal case law and legislation, and makes every result verifiable at the source. The platform is built by a team at the intersection of law, data science and software engineering, in close exchange with law firms, tax professionals and universities.

Who We Are

Lexplorer was founded by Jules Rutishauser, Yves Rutishauser and Noah Chavannes and is operated by Byte Studio GmbH. Jules Rutishauser (Law & Economics, University of St. Gallen) experienced first-hand how much qualified working time is absorbed by mechanical research. Yves Rutishauser and Noah Chavannes contribute their experience in building precise search and AI systems as data scientists and software engineers. From this combination emerged a platform that brings together legal accuracy and modern language technology.

Our Approach

Legal research in Switzerland is more laborious than it needs to be, not for lack of sources, but for lack of efficient tools. Since our founding, we have therefore developed Lexplorer strictly along the needs of practice: features originate from concrete research problems of attorneys, law firms and tax departments, and are validated together with users from practice and academia. Whatever does not demonstrably improve precision does not make it into the platform.

What We Stand For

Verifiability: every research result can be traced back to the underlying judgments and statutory provisions, and sources are linked directly.
Responsibility: Lexplorer supports legal judgment, it does not replace it. Professional responsibility remains with the practitioner.
Confidentiality: data hosted in Switzerland, processing in Europe, no use of customer data for training AI models, designed around the requirements of professional secrecy.
